Central Vancouver Island
The Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo and the coast north of it. Vineyards, farmland, the warmest corner of the island.
The place
The Central Vancouver Island wedding venues in this index run from the Cowichan Valley up through Nanaimo to the Comox Valley: vineyards, orchards and working farmland in the warmest, driest part of the coast.
Central Vancouver Island runs from the Cowichan Valley up through Nanaimo and Parksville, and it is the part of the coast that behaves most like farmland. Vineyards, orchards, working farms and long open fields, with the mountains on one side and the strait on the other.
Cowichan is the warmest and driest corner of the island, which matters more than it sounds. A long table outdoors is a realistic plan here across more months of the year than anywhere else on this list, and the venues have been built around that rather than around a rain plan.
It is also the middle, which makes it the compromise that is not really a compromise: an hour from Victoria, an hour from the ferries, and reachable in a day from almost anywhere on the coast.

Before you choose
By ferry to Departure Bay or Duke Point at Nanaimo from the mainland, or by driving up the highway from Victoria in about an hour. There is also an airport at Nanaimo and another at Comox, which is worth mentioning to anybody flying in for a wedding at the northern end.
More so than anywhere else on this list. The Cowichan Valley is the warmest and driest corner of the island and the venues have been built around eating outside rather than around a rain plan, which stretches the workable season at both ends.
Yes. The valley and the Comox area both have working wineries that host weddings, and several will pour their own wine at the dinner. Ask early about what the harvest does to your date, because the weeks around it are the busiest of their year.
It is the practical answer when half your people are in Vancouver and half are in Victoria. An hour from the capital, an hour from the mainland ferries and reachable in a day from most of the coast, without asking anyone to take two boats.
A provincial marriage licence bought from any licence agent, valid for three months and available with no residency requirement or waiting period. The ceremony has to be performed by a marriage commissioner or a registered religious representative, and you will want two witnesses.
