Why this exists
Folklore Wedding Company has been photographing, filming and planning weddings on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands for years. The question that comes up before anything else, every time, is where. Not what it costs or who is shooting it. Where.
We were answering it from memory, one couple at a time, and forgetting good places we had not thought about in a while. This is that answer written down properly, with the photographs attached and the parking situation included.
Most of these we simply list. A few run their bookings on our system. Either way they are here because we would send our own couples to them.
How a venue gets on here
Nothing goes on this list off a brochure. Some of these we have shot or planned at ourselves, and the weddings on those pages say so. The rest we went looking for and asked about properly, because a good place is worth listing whether or not we have stood in it.
Every venue gets a real gallery, credited to the photographer who shot it. If the pictures cannot carry the place, we would rather wait until we have better ones.
A profile that cannot say where people park or what happens if it rains is not finished, and it does not go up. We would rather list fewer venues properly.
