The venue
The Providence was built in 1903 and still sails. White canvas, worn wood, and a deck that has been underfoot for over a century. From spring through early autumn she works the Gulf Islands and the coastline around them, so the backdrop is never the same twice.
Twenty guests is the limit and the ship is the whole venue. Couples and guests are welcome to help hoist the sails or take a turn at the helm. Ceremonies happen under way, at anchor in a quiet cove, or alongside at the dock, depending on the weather and what you want the day to feel like.
What makes it
Built in 1903 and sailing ever since. Worn wood, tarred rigging, and canvas that goes up by hand. Nothing aboard is a reproduction of anything.
Guests are welcome on the lines and at the wheel. Most weddings here end up with half the party hauling on something, which is the best thing about it.
Open water, a quiet cove, or alongside at the dock, depending on the wind and what you want. No two sailings look the same.
