The venue

Where history meets the sea.

Perched on the southeastern shoreline of Salt Spring Island, Ruckle Heritage Farm is one of the most storied places to marry in the Gulf Islands. Established in 1872, it remains the oldest working family farm in the region.

Open pasture runs down to the water, forest trails cut behind the fields, and the heritage houses are still standing and still used. The farm takes celebrations from two people up to a hundred including vendors, and it will host a multi-day stay if you want the weekend rather than the afternoon.

What people actually said.

Was lucky enough to be able to visit while they had an open house. Two relatives of the Ruckle's were there to answer questions. Really interesting to see an old time farm house and touch and hold many of the implements that were used. A must-see for local history buffs.

The gray goat is a rock star.
Joey MooreJune 2026
The farm is absolutely beautiful. Because of its hillside, it has a very layered look. There are plenty of sheep and turkeys; it's so much better than the farm on the other side of the island where only two sheep come out.
